Dana Anderson currently serves as the Grand Rapids Branch Director of Refugee and Immigrant Services as well as part time National Development Director of Refugee and Immigrant Services at Bethany Christian Services. In this role, her primary responsibilities are within the Grand Rapids branch, providing leadership to the various programs within Refugee and Immigrant Services. As a National Development Director, she provides cooperate technical assistance to all BCS branches that provide services to refugees and/or immigrants. Dana has spent the last 15 years of her career serving and advocating for refugee and immigrant children and families. She has spoken frequently on the topics surrounding refugee resettlement, complex immigration issues, trauma informed care and human trafficking at both the local and national level. Dana has co-facilitated several courses at Grand Valley State University on Immigration and Human Trafficking and written several articles on refugee foster care from a trauma informed perspective. She holds a bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wheaton College, a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Cornerstone University and has been a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan for 16 years. Dana has been married for 28 years and has 3 children ages 11, 20 and 22. Outside of work, she can often be found trekking through God’s great creation and enjoying the solitude of nature.
